Heart of Rust have been playing their tribute to Neil Young and Crazy Horse for over 10 years now. Widely praised for their authenticity in sound, they have played at venues and the odd festival, throughout the UK. The band were headliners at Rustfest in 2015. Among the artists playing that day were, Ian McNabb, who joined us onstage for a couple of numbers. Thrum (Johnnie Smillie and Monica Queen) also performed a set of Neil young songs. Nils Lofgren was also in town that day and generously gifted us some items to raffle, including signed CD's. He had hoped to make a surprise appearance but, he was busy! David played the part of Neil Young in a celebration of "The Band's Last Waltz" at "Stramash" in Edinburgh in 2019
The diary suddenly became empty in the Spring of 2020 due to the arrival of the COVID-19 Pandemic. However, as this terrible time starts to improve, we are hopeful to get back on the road! So, we hope to see you around!
The original line up was composed of, David Henderson on guitar, harmonica and lead vocals, Stuart Rowe on guitar and backing vocals, Steven Fitzpatrick on drums and percussion and Tony Fitzpatrick On bass guitar and backing vocals. Tony always proudly announced “his boy” on the drums.
In time we added a pedal steel guitar player Yivie Kok who spent a couple of years with us before returning to Malaysia.
Following a few changes with deps here and there due to unavailability of core band members, Heart of Rust is now composed of David Henderson, Jamie Uchima, Henry Race on Bass guitar / backing vocals.
Well, there are many reasons! Not least that we are jolly nice to spend time with. Firstly, if you are looking to hire a Neil Young tribute band then, we are widely held in high esteem as probably the closest sound to Neil Young and Crazy Horse in the UK. We have played UK wide in cities and towns like Glasgow, Edinburgh, London, Bristol, Birmingham and Glastonbury.
We cover both acoustic and electric favourites from the 60's onwards.
